Chief Compliance Officer

Eugene (Gene) Fry is experienced in SOC2 Type 2 and HITRUST audit preparation and has more than fifteen years of information technology experience spanning system analysis/engineering, sales, field service, and operations.

Most recently, Gene held the position of Chief Compliance Officer at Scrypt, Inc. an SaaS-based healthcare software developer. His experience as the CCO of a Business Associate, gives him an inside-out perspective of the impact audit readiness has on organizations preparing for HITRUST, SOC, PCI DSS, and GLBA audits. 

Gene joined Scrypt in October of 2001 and held various compliance-related positions shaping and managing the company’s three healthcare products’ Business Associate status. Gene ensured that Scrypt’s products met all federal and state regulations for healthcare, and that the company as a whole met HITRUST, HIPAA, GLBA, PCI DSS, and SOC audit requirements. 

From 1996 to 1999, Gene was employed by Turner Collie and Braden, a major engineering firm, where he was responsible for designing and upgrading new technology and ensuring that implementation was coordinated and successful throughout the organization’s multiple offices. Prior to that, from 1994 to 1996, he was employed by Pacific Atlantic Group SA in Buenos Aires, Argentina, where he created an infrastructure for a U.S. affiliate to distribute, market, and manufacture a vending machine product in Argentina and other Latin American companies. 

Gene holds various technical and healthcare related certifications and expertise in various protocols, operating systems, and software.


Robert Phillips
Chief Financial Officer

Robert Phillips has extensive experience in accounting, finance, Security and Exchange Commission (“SEC”) financial reporting, Sarbanes Oxley compliance (“SOX”), and strategic planning in diverse industries including software, hardware manufacturing, medical technology, and global communication services. 

Less than two years after completing his MBA at Texas A&M, Robert became CFO of a small traded company going through a difficult turnaround. A few years later he again became CFO and Chief Strategy Officer at publicly traded SecureCare Technologies, a medical technology spin-out, and he negotiated a private equity investment. Robert's early CFO experience has led him to positions and consulting engagements ranging from CFO of iStream Technologies, a startup business process management company specializing in regulatory compliance, and world-class Apple. At Apple, Robert was a managing consultant of a high transaction volume stock operations team where he managed accounting and related 10-Q and 10-K financial equity disclosure and technical accounting assessments, as well as transitioning the department's operational site from Cupertino to Austin. He was also VP of Venture Development at a venture-backed e-commerce startup incubator in Austin. 

Robert has served as Controller of Rocket Gaming Systems, as well as Financial Reporting and Planning Director at Multimedia Games, and at Rignet during an IPO. As financial consultant at Bridgepoint Consulting Group, he has held CFO service, Interim Controller, and SEC Financial Reporting positions at Crossroads Systems, ActivePower, Harden Healthcare, ArthroCare, Boardbooks.com, Rainmaker Technologies, and Fallbrook Technologies. He has also served at financial consulting and CFO services engagements at multinational companies, including BMC Software, Natco Group, Respironics, and FIC Group.
